The MYP of IB ie Middle Year program starts from Grade 6 (MYP-1) to Grade 10 (MYP-5/ Pre –IB) in all IB schools. This International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle year program (MYP) for Mathematics promotes both enquiry and application which help the MYP students to develop the analytical and problem solving skill. The Maths includes Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, statistics and probability. The students of MYP maths develop the technique to represent the information to explore the possibilities and also to find out the solution this skill help them beyond the school and in different discipline include science, social science and humanities.

It builds the foundation for further studies in the field of science, engineering and technology and in variety of other fields.

STRUCTURE OF MATHS IN MYP

MYP Maths in basically customised to the needs of students and help them to learn principles. They are shown some real examples of how maths is useful and meaningful for their lives and are motivated to use them in new situation. The topics are organised at 2 levels

1. STANDARD MATHEMATICS:

It aims at providing students a sound knowledge of basic mathematical principles.

2. EXTENDED MATHEMATICS:

In this standard maths is supplemented by additional topics which provide broader depth.

IB MYP Maths students are tested on one or more criteria in each topic as follows:

Criteria A : Knowledge and understanding

Criteria B: Investigation

Criteria C: Communication

Criteria D: Applying Maths in Real Life Contexts

HOW TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE IN IB MYP MATHS
